Juanita Hernandez, born May 15, 1923, died peacefully in her home on February 20, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was a mother of 5 and enjoyed crafts, camping and traveling to Oregon. She provided a wonderful family foundation for her children that lead them to strong family values.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike, Sisters Eloisa Soza, Mary Bernal and parents Feliciano and Lorenza Hernandez.
Juanita was born in Los Angeles and moved to Santa Paula in 1928 where she attended local schools. She met and married Mike J. Hernandez in 1942. Surviving are her 5 children, Juanita (husband Richard) Velasquez and Linda (husband Delfino) Martinez both of Santa Paula, Lucille Hill and Gloria (husband Pete) Hernandez both of Las Vegas, NV and son, Michael (wife Lorraine) Hernandez of The Dalles, Oregon. She is also survived by her brother, Lorenzo (wife Loy) Hernandez of Whittier, CA; 11grandchildren, Rick, Lisa, Shaun, Arlene, Tanya, Felicia, DeAnna, Peter, Michelle, Angela and Vanessa; 22 great grandchildren, Noah, Sydney, Alicia, Anthony, Francisco, Emma, Phillip, Eric, Isaac, Sofia, Christopher, Joseph, Anyssa, JaiLina, KaiLea, Izaiah, Linda, Ashley, Lina, Joey, Jessica, Darian, Zion and Michael; and 1 great-great grandchild; Cruz, who will miss their grandma so much
Visitation will be on February 26, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. followed by Rosary from 7-8 p.m. at Skillin-Carroll Chapel 738 E. Santa Paula St, Santa Paula with the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on February 27, 2014 at St Sebastian Church 239 N. 9th St, Santa Paula. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 N. H St, Oxnard.
The Hernandez family would like to express their sincere thanks to her very special Dr. "Mike" Tushla, who has always been kind and considerate to our whole family as well as Maureen Polley, with TLC Hospice who both were a God send to us all. Her care providers, Lourdes Velazquez of Ventura she has been our family angel and we consider her a part of our family, Cindy Gonzalez, Becky Martinez, Yvonne Casillas and neighbor Bonnie all of Santa Paula.
