
She was one of eleven children and attended Santa Paula High School from 1952 thru 1955. She was actively involved in high school sports such as soccer and basketball, while also participating in the glee club.
After high school she married her beloved husband Joe L. Salazar and had four children. Tillie and Joe celebrated 57 years of marriage, moving several times between Ventura County and the San Fernando Valley the family had finally settled in Winnetka, CA in 1978.
She was a devout Catholic and taught C.C.D. classes to children for over 30 years at several parishes including St. Catherine of Siena in Reseda and St. Joseph the Worker in Canoga Park specializing in the First Holy Communion Sacrament during her final years.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend who loved singing, dancing and cherished spending time laughing with family and friends. Her passion for sports continued after graduating from high school playing softball and bowling in community leagues. She especially loved good food and took great pleasure in traveling to Las Vegas with her husband and family members to play the slot machines. She loved her family unconditionally and adored by all who had met her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Tillie was preceded in death by her brothers Danny, Eugene, Peter, Rudy and sisters Becky, Martha, Patsy and Irene.
She is survived by her husband Joe; four children Yolanda, Steve, Jo Ann and Joe; son-in-law Tony; two sisters Rachel and Sally; seven grandchildren Gina, Steve, Charles, Jesse, Chris, Brian and Ivonne; granddaughter-in-law Crystal, as well as three great-grandsons Ryan, Tyler, Brody and great-granddaughter Lilian, in additional to future great-granddaughter Dena Rose scheduled to be born on September 13.
John {11:25} Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, {11: 26} and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die."
Funeral Services honoring the life of Tillie will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 427 N. Oak Street, Santa Paula beginning with the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 9th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, August 10th with Father Charles Lueras officiating. Committal and Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
