Loving husband of Hélène, his wife of 53 years, proud father of Olivier, Isabelle, Jérôme, and Anne, and doting grandfather of Margot, Robert, Colette and Raphaël,
Alain was born in Orléans, France in 1948. He graduated from HEC business school in 1970, a source of personal pride that led him to become a leading active alumnus throughout his life. His love of entrepreneurial business and fluency in English attracted him to life in the United States, a challenge that his wife and family shared with him from 1982 onwards when he set up his own commercial real estate venture in New York City. He became a dual US-French citizen in 2010.
Following a long and successful career, he retired to Longboat Key in 2017 where he quickly made friends through his love of tennis which he played regularly, captaining one of the Longboat Key Club teams until his passing. Hélène and Alain enjoyed the many rich cultural features offered in the Sarasota area, and were active supporters of the Sarasota Opera among other local institutions and charities. Alain was a man of deep religious conviction and was a devout Roman Catholic. His passion for and knowledge of fine wine was well known to all those who knew him, and he was both a Chevalier du Tastevin in Burgundy and a Commandeur of Bordeaux.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 16, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Saint Mary Star of the Sea on Longboat Key, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Dr, 34228. In lieu of flowers, the Lebleu family would like to invite those who knew Alain to celebrate his legacy via donations to the following charity.
