George Archer Potter, 80, died peacefully in his sleep March, 3rd 2017. George was a true Floridian, born in Bradenton and raised in Sarasota. George graduated Sarasota High School in 1954 and served in the Navy from 1954-1957 as a 3rd class Yeoman aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. He served on the Board of Directors for the Lions Club, the Jaycees, and Ringling Redskins. George was an active member of The Tabernacle Church and remained heavy in his faith. He also participated in the church's coffee ministry and living nativity. In his free time he enjoyed camping in the Smoky Mountains with family and watching Florida Gator football with his brother Mills. George is survived by his wife of 58 years Nancy, their son Bo and his wife Pam and their daughter Pam and her husband Mike, his brother Mills and his wife Linda and his sister Marilee and her husband Phil. He was known to his 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as Pop. Services for George will be held Monday, April 3rd at 11 am at the Tabernacle Church in Sarasota.
