Hugh Roach Moore

Hugh R Moore was born on November 3, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana; he passed away peacefully on October 22, 2016 at the age of 92. A 1941 graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Hugh later served in US Coast Guard before beginning a successful 30 year career in the real estate industry. He is a past president of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors. Hugh relocated to Florida in 1985, which he loved and where he remained for the rest of his life. He was blessed with the love of two wonderful wives’, Georgia who passed away in 1991, and Lillian who passed away in January of this year. Hugh had passion in caring for the living. For many, many years he nurtured amazing Orchids, and raised spectacular Tropical fish which continued until his passing. He was always the first to offer support to his church and civic affiliations; he led fund raising drives, and he loved planning group travel trips near and far. Hugh found joy in caring, and in giving, no matter the occasion. Hugh is survived by his sons Steven and Michael who reside in Indianapolis and five grandchildren; as well as three step children, Sandy Robbins, Tim Miller, and Dave Miller who reside in Florida. All will cherish his memory forever. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday November 12, Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home 7454 S. Tamiami Trail Sarasota, Fl. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation.
