

Marjorie was born September 13, 1930 in Quincy, Illinois. She was the last surviving child of Charles E. and Daisy May Finney Smith.
She was educated at Ruddle School in Ursa and Mendon Township High School, where she was salutatorian of her class. Marjorie attended Western University in Macomb, Illinois, graduating in 1952.
She began her professional life as a secretary to the press secretary of the St. Louis Browns Baseball organization in 1952.
In 1953, Marjorie worked for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball organization, and remained there until 1958.
She then took a job opportunity with a St. Louis civil engineering firm, Sverdrup & Parcel, which took her to Bangkok, Thailand. She met her future husband, Ken, on a blind date. Their two sons were born there shortly thereafter.
After living abroad for many years in Thailand, New Zealand, Australia and Canada, Marjorie and Ken then moved back to the United States to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana and Maryland. In 1988, Marjorie and Ken retired to Sarasota, Florida. They lived there together for over 30 years until Ken’s death in 2019.
She is survived by her sons, John David and Bruce Kenneth, grandchildren Alexa Lee, (Mike) Keegan, and John Taylor, along with many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service later this year followed by inurnment of Marjorie and Kenneth at New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, Illinois.
