Virginia was born on April 29, 1931 in New York City, the daughter of the late Louis and Rose Navarra of New York. She lived in and around the Long Island area for most of her life before moving to her beloved Sarasota in 1987.
Virginia worked for many years as a school computer aide. Upon moving to Sarasota, she taught religion to children at St Michael’s Church on Siesta Key.
Virginia leaves behind two daughters, Rosemarie Bleiweiss of Sarasota; Maureen Brock and her husband Walter Brock of Palm Harbor, FL; two grandchildren Anthony Brock and his wife Stephanie Brock of Orlando, FL; Patrick Brock of Montclair, New Jersey, and great-granddaughter Evelyn Brock.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving daughter Linda Nygard, her husband of 34 years Charles Maggese and her second husband Anthony D’Alessio.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home Wiegand Chapel, 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
