December 31, 1926 – May 24, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alex Grant, a beloved father and grandfather, who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on May 24, 2022, at the age of 95 years old.
Alex is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Lowell Berg and their children, Paige (Tyler Wacker), Madison (Brayden Coghill) and Cole Berg (Brooklyn Fehr), well as his son, Cameron Grant. Alex is predeceased by his loving wife Annie Lorraine Grant; his mother Rosa Shrives; and his father Charles Grant.
Alex was an only child born and raised in Calgary, Alberta until he joined his daughter and family in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2015. He was a proud worker as a Senior Control Clerk in the Finance Department with the City of Calgary until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports, specifically hockey, and liked to keep up with his favourite team, the Calgary Flames. Alex was a friend to all and a strong supporter of giving back to the community and church. You would never miss him chatting with his table mates, facetiming his grandkids, participating in the latest iPad class or volunteering in his retirement home’s tuck shop. He carried a deep faith and relationship with God throughout his life. His three grandchildren were his shining lights. He enjoyed listening to Paige through her piano venture, was always sure to attend Madison’s dance recitals, and it was a rarity for him to miss one of Cole’s hockey games. Somethings many will remember about Alex was his kind heart, compassion for other people, and his quick-witted comments making everyone laugh. He will be thoroughly missed by many.
There will be a graveside service for immediate family and close friends at Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary, AB on Monday May 30, 2022 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and stroke foundation www.heartandstrokefoundation.ca
