

It is with great sadness that the family of Anita Dorothy Sonntag announce her sudden passing on August 21, 2018 at the age of 76. Anita was born in Loon Lake, SK and spent her childhood in Goodsoil, SK on the family farm. She graduated from Humboldt Nursing School in 1962, and took her training at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt, SK. Her career as a Registered Nurse took her to many places, including Lac La Biche, AB., Whitehorse, YK., and Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Anita eventually returned to Saskatchewan, and taught a Home Care program in Prince Albert and surrounding communities, eventually settling in Saskatoon, SK. Anita volunteered her time in music ministry and various choirs. She was an influential leader in all aspects of her life, particularly with Rachel’s Vineyard and Silent No More Awareness Campaign. Anita is survived by her two daughters, Allison (Jay) Pollard and Rebecca (Tim) Zagozewski, and her six grandchildren Cairo, Devlin, Emma, Emmet, Madeline and Lily, her siblings Bernie (Mary) Sonntag, Patricia (David Thomson) Sonntag, Audrey (Craig) Rath, as well as her brother-in-law Rudy Martinka, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Annie and Henry Sonntag, her sister Lois Martinka, her brother Jerome Sonntag, and her unborn son Michael. Prayer Vigil will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral in Saskatoon, SK, 720 Spadina Cres. E., with Father Stefano Penna as Celebrant. Cremation to follow the mass, with the interment at a later date.
