Arlene was born November 8th, 1935 in Allan where she attended school. She moved to Saskatoon with her parents and was a great help to them running a boarding house. She later went onto work for Gibson Photos and had an eye for photography. In 1953 she met the love of her life Harry Fleury and they married on August 11th, 1956. Arlene was a city girl but adapted well to life on the farm. She played a big role in keeping the men fed as she brought meals to the field and managed the grain germination. Arlene loved the simple things in life which included the view from her kitchen window where she enjoyed many beautiful sunsets. For 30 plus years, she treasured the fun times at the family cabin at Candle Lake. She was very social, she loved to sing and dance. Mom had a great sense of humour, an avid reader, huge Blue Jays fan, and the worlds Best cook. Mom made every Sunday special by preparing a feast for the family, many good memories were made around our table. Mom was a great listener and confidant, her advice and wisdom were valued by many. She instilled in us good values and morals. Mom was a strong woman, but raised her family with a kind and gentle hand. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her and she always put others first. Mom spent her last few days at Sherbrooke Community Centre, the staff there were not just staff to Mom, they were family. We thank them for their love and compassion that will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sherbrooke Foundation or to the Alzheimers Assoc. of Saskatchewan would be appreciated by the family. The Vigil for Arlene will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20th. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21st with the Very Rev. Father David Tumback presiding. Both Services will be held from the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road). Following the reception, the Rite of Committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306)978-5200
