Beryl was predeceased by her parents, Hopeton and Margaret Parke, & brother Lawrence Parke. She is survived by her siblings: brother, Percival Parke (Barbados); sister, Renetta Rita Grant (England); sister, Lurlene Agatha (Mazey) Parke (Jamaica).
Beryl will be truly missed by her beloved husband of 67 years, St. Elmo (Fritz); her son, Hugh; daughter n’ law, Paula; and precious grandchildren, Jasmyn and Jadyn Pingue. She had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends that she dearly cherished. Beryl will be truly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing & loving her.
Beryl was born in Alexandria, a small town in the parish of Saint Ann, Jamaica. She later moved to Bristol, England, to continue her education as a nursing assistant. It was there that she met her husband, Fritz. They married in March 29, 1958. They moved to Newport, South Wales; then they welcomed their only son, Hugh, who was born in 1960. In 1966, they travelled to Canada by boat, & lived their life together in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Beryl devoted 34 years in the healthcare field, caring for others with compassion and dedication. She was an exceptional cook & found great joy in flowers and gardening, listening to music like jazz, gospel, reggae, classical piano, and country. Beryl thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful life and relaxation, spending her winter months in Marion Oaks, Ocala, Florida, for 36 years. Her faith was deeply important to her, and she was a devoted and active member of her church and community. During the summertime, Beryls love for nature and lake life drew her to Turtle Lake, Saskatchewan. Kopp’s Cove from the early 70’s to 2011. Beryl’s greatest joy was spending time with family and laughing & sharing stories with her grandchildren.
We would like to give thanks to Parkridge Centre for rehabilitation for Beryl’s second stroke, also Sunnyside Nursing Home staff, nurses, and pastor for their compassion for caring for the past 5 years of Beryl’s life.
Service of remembrance will be held at Acadia - McKague’s Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Dr.) on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at the Columbarium at St. John’s Cathedral. Reception to follow.
