Beverley Ann Funk

Bev was born in 1953 to a mining family in Northern Ontario. Growing up in the bush left her with a lifelong love of the outdoors and an indifference to mosquitoes. The Schermann family moved to Saskatoon where she attended Holy Cross high school, and she spent the rest of her life living in Saskatchewan.

She is predeceased by her siblings Brian, Suzanne, Sandy and Ken, and survived by her brother Mike.

Bev found love in two marriages, first to Dave Hanson, then Warren Funk, who passed away on August 5th. She raised two daughters: Erin and Lisette, and welcomed three grandchildren: Daniel, Gab and Shannon. They’ve gone on to have beautiful families of their own.

Bev’s career was as a legal secretary, where her calm voice, kindness and clarity helped many people when they were at their most vulnerable. Her co-workers became lifetime friends. Outside of work, she loved farmer’s markets, big dogs and good books. Bev and Warren spent many happy days at their cabin at Cochin, where they made dear friends with their neighbors.

After her retirement in 2023, Bev handled life’s changes with composure and was thankful for the many people who helped her and Warren, including the care teams at RUH, City Hospital and Luther Special Care Home.

According to her wishes, there will be no memorial. Instead, please spend extra time with the people you love.
