Bev grew up in Brantford, where she met and married Fred, the love of her life for over seventy years. They lived in Brantford, raising their three children and taking every opportunity to pack up the family to head out with the tent and explore all around Ontario. In 1969, they moved to Saskatoon, where she lived until the time of her passing.
Fred and Bev looked forward to camping getaways and planned as many trips as they could. Eventually they upgraded to a truck camper and for years would visit all of Canada, going everywhere from coast to coast and as far north as the roads would take them. Fishing and exploring was important throughout their travels and they would often take the truck camper and boat to enjoy the beauty of northern Saskatchewan. They particularly loved Nemeiben Lake and would often travel there to fish and pick cranberries. At their home, where she lived for 55 years, Bev enjoyed the flowers in the yard and all the birds that visited the bird feeders. She was always vigilant to scare off any crow that dared to come close to her yard and bother her treasured bird guests.
As a professional homemaker, Mom meticulously managed a household of five, juggling finances skillfully in the background ensuring our family was comfortable. Mom was creative, talented in sewing, knitting, crocheting, accomplishing anything she set her mind to. She battled many health issues with courage and determination. We are grateful for a life well-lived to ninety in reasonable comfort and independence.
Bev is lovingly remembered by her husband Fred and children Jennifer (Jim) Flegel, Grigg Swayze, and Sue (Kevin) Riehl; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings: Judy, Doug and Sandy.
No funeral service will be held for Bev as her life will be celebrated privately with the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favourite charity.
