It’s with sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Callaghan on April 15, 2026 after a short battle with cancer. Brenda was predeceased by her husband Greg Callaghan, her parents Lawrence and Eva Britski and by her brothers David Britski and Jason Kennedy. She is survived by her daughters Karen (Shawn) Penner and Megean (Tyler) Moulds, her grandchildren Joshawa, Zakary, Olivia, Logan and Bodhi and by her great grandchildren Andre, Maya and Sofia. She is also survived by several sisters in law and brothers in law and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dog Nina, her steadfast protector for over 13 years.
Brenda was born near Danbury SK and attended school in Canora SK. She lived most of her life in Saskatoon where she worked various places such as an automotive parts supply place, a tool supply house, a law office, jewelry stores and an events centre.
Brenda’s parents had a family cabin turned full time home at Crystal Lake, SK for many years and Brenda loved being out at the lake! Her and her dad would be up before the birds, drinking pots of coffee together before taking on their first round of golf for the day. Whether it was playing golf or doing chores or simply sitting in the sun, she loved to be outside! Her love of the outdoors and nature continued her whole life, and she spent endless hours in her yard meticulously weeding, pruning and planting. If she wasn’t doing yard work, she could be found sitting in her deck swing with her dog by her side listening to her windchimes and watching the birds.
Brenda loved long drives down country roads to which every trip was a brand new adventure because she was directionally challenged and never really knew which direction she was actually heading. She especially cherished day trips with Greg and her brothers in law and sisters in law when they would head out to the old Callaghan homestead and spend the day laughing and sharing stories over a packed lunch or wiener roast – if her hotdog resembled charcoal, it was perfectly done.
Brenda’s grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her joy, and she was always so happy when she could spend time together with them. She enjoyed every opportunity to get together with friends or family. Brenda loved country music and a cold beer, she loved good stories and jokes, a good prank or two and just to laugh with people. She enjoyed early mornings, reading, shopping, casino trips, swimming and Hallmark Christmas movies.
Brenda loved animals, especially dogs and she was happiest with a dog by her side. When she received her diagnosis, her concern wasn’t with herself but instead it was about being able to stay at home with her dog Nina for as long as she possibly could and she did that, right until her last breath.
The last 6 months were full of challenges and appointments, and Brenda was so lucky to have neighbors and friends and family who all helped to take care of her and Nina throughout this time. She was very grateful for everyone who helped out and who checked in on her.
As per Brenda’s request there will be no funeral services, instead there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
