Claudette was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, her parents, Joseph and Catherine Kutchyera, her stepfather, Leo Warnecke, and her brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Betty Kutchyera.
Left to mourn are her daughter, Cathy (Brian), granddaughter, Anja (Max), son, Rob (Sherri), grandchildren Jesse and Samantha, and step-grandchildren Kyleigh and Keegan, as well as her sister-in-law Margaret (Peter), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and ‘cousins-in-law’ in Canada, England and Trinidad & Tobago.
Mom began her career as a Lab Tech in Regina SK, married dad on September 1, 1956, and spent the next years raising her two children. After a brief residence in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and several moves around Western Canada, they settled in Saskatoon, where mom once again returned to the lab, spending 20 years working closely with a globally renowned pathologist in the field of cancer research, with many of her photographs taken by electron microscopy appearing in his books. She then joined dad to work in their successful property management business until their retirement.
Mom’s primary loves were her husband, her children and grandchildren, and her art. Mom’s many paintings adorn the walls of our homes, and will be a lasting memory of her talent, her patience and her ability to blend just the right colors for the perfectly shaded sky, tree, snowbank or sunset. Dinners around her table will remain legend, both for the abundance of food (we ALWAYS took home leftovers), and for the rib-aching laughter that usually started with one or two of us and quickly spread, until the whole family couldn’t breathe.
For so many reasons, mom, you will be so dearly missed.
Huge thanks to Sr. Evhenia and all the wonderful Sisters, nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Care Home, who cared for mom over the last three years with respect, patience, compassion, but mostly with love. Special thanks to Nurse Justin, who gently took care of mom’s needs in her final hours, and to Sr. Eliana and Sr. Evphrosynia, who prayed beautifully over mom at the end. We will forever be grateful for all of you and will never forget your kindness!
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Parish, located at 1902 Munroe Avenue, Saskatoon. For those unable to attend in person, may join via link:
