

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, môsom, brother, and uncle, Cornell Bellegarde. He was called home to be with the Creator on the afternoon of Friday, January 9, 2026.
Cornell was predeceased by his maternal grandparents: George and Virginia Bellerose, paternal grandparents: John and Clara Bellegarde, parents: Charles ‘Chuck’ Bellegarde and Yvonne (nee Bellerose) Bellegarde, father-in-law Joseph ‘George’ McKay, brothers: Dwayne ‘Doss’ Bellegarde and Darrel Bellegarde.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife of 32 years, Sandra (McKay) Bellegarde, mother-in-law Noella McKay, his children: Sherrie (Sheldon) Bellegarde, Amber (Delano) Bellegarde, Joshua Bellegarde, and Stephanie Bellegarde, brothers: Brian Bellegarde, Dean (Sandra) Bellegarde, Perry (Valerie) Bellegarde, Joe (Delores) McKay, and Chris (Donna) McKay, sisters: Jackie Bellegarde, Wanda Bellegarde, Sonya Starr, and Yvonne McKay, grandchildren: Autumn, Kimiwan, Okistatowân, Pêciwâpan, Jade, Caitlynn, and Sîpiy and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted relatives, and friends.
Raised on the Little Black Bear First Nation, Cornell was a hardworking and devoted husband. He was a very generous and kind man who believed in our traditional ways and followed them wholeheartedly until the very end. Cornell has always said “love and kindness”, and it was his way of reminding us of what truly matters.
A traditional service will be held at the Mourning Glory - Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel, 915 Acadia Dr, Saskatoon, SK, on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 1:00pm. Meal to follow.
