Cyril lived on the family farm near Burr, and farmed since his early teen years. He had a love for animals and raised cattle as well as grain farming. He could often be found at a farm auction where he enjoyed looking at machinery and getting ideas for the farm, as well as enjoying lunch and a conversation with neighbours. Cyril could be found checking his cattle on the quad or riding in the combine to see how the crop looked even up until his final years. In his final years, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, taking them for tractor rides and teaching them how to feed the barn animals.
