Daniel Ronald Devlin passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital on June 13, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna and their children Margaret, Hugh, Ev, Colette and son-in-law, Henry Lukan; grandchildren, Peter LeJan (Christine), Glenn LeJan (Jennifer), Wes LeJan (Pam) and their children; along with his siblings, Hilda, Jocelyn, Lorraine, Bill and Elsie. He was predeceased by his daughter, Eileen, parents, Daniel and Eva Devlin and sister, Evelyn Hallett. Dan was born on December 10, 1930 in St. Laurent, MB and lived there until 1952 when he married the love of his life, Anna Lavallee. Together they made their first home in Transcona where Dan worked for CN Rail. In 1958, they moved to Flin Flon, MB where they raised their family and Dan enjoyed 32 years working at HBM&S as a journeyman rigger, industrial mechanic and maintenance planner. He was the definition of integrity, was a faithful and dedicated employee and always got the job done to the highest degree with very little complaining. Dan was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and spent many Friday nights calling bingo at St. Anne’s Church in Flin Flon. In 2002, Dan and Anna made a move to Saskatoon and spent 15 years in Columbian Manor. They moved to M and M personal care home in 2017. The staff and residents took them in like family and treated them like gold. Even though Dan was only allowed to complete his grade 8 education, he had a brilliant mind especially when it came to math computation. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, picking blueberries and the many trips him and Anna made to Yuma, Arizona as snowbirds. Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Marianela and all the staff at M and M care homes. In addition, thank you to Kim and the staff at Luther Day Program and to the palliative care team at St. Paul’s Hospital for allowing Dad to die with dignity and respect. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church (217 Lenore Drive) in Saskatoon. A Private Family Interment will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daniel’s honour to either M and M Private Care Home Ltd (518 Russell Road, Saskatoon, SK S7K 6L6) or to Luther Seniors Centre, c/o Kim Willick and directed for recreation use in the day program (1800 Alexandra Avenue, Saskatoon, S7K 3C7).
