OBITUARY

Delma Lloyd Gill

6 March, 1940 – 16 August, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Mourning Glory Funeral Services

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Delma Lloyd Gill, age 86, of Watrous, Saskatchewan, who passed away peacefully in Saskatoon on August 16, 2026, with family by his side.

Del was born on March 6, 1940, on the family farm in Renown, Saskatchewan, to Walter and Mabel Gill. He grew up on the farm and attended the Renown schoolhouse. He later worked and managed the CO-OP in Young before beginning a 36-year career at the Colonsay Potash mine.

Del loved hockey—especially the Toronto Maple Leaf's—baseball, farming, volunteering as a firefighter, and spending time puttering in his garage and yard. He was a self-proclaimed amateur mechanic, always ready to lend a hand and, of course, share a joke or give someone a little good-natured teasing. Above all, Del was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Del was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mabel, father and mother-in-law Arthur and Lydia Bartel, and his sister Iris (Bertram).

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley (Bartel); daughters Andrea (Jason Bennett) and Trina (Mike Kesler); son Ryan (Katie); sister Donna (Ernie Epp); and grandchildren Kennedy (Cody Murfitt), Bowen, Brayten, Beckham, Gracie, Sadie, and Charley.

A celebration of Del’s life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Del’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada
