December 23, 1944 – August 17, 2015
Diana passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long and valiant battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Despite what was taken from her, she never allowed it to define her. She looked forward to each day, accepting her limitations and making the very most of what was left. - Diana was born in Hague, Sask. and went to school in Waldheim and Saskatoon before marrying Henry Block in 1962. They lived on the farm near Blackstrap where they raised four children and countless bushels of wheat and canola. - A gifted musician and composer, she loved nothing more than to sit at her piano and make music, performing virtually anywhere, anyone asked. Diana taught piano lessons for forty years and had a deep connection with her students. She never missed an opportunity to gather friends for a sing-along, bring the accordion to a bonfire or watch Sound of Music with the grandchildren. Diana’s children fondly recall lying awake just listening to her play and oh, how she loved to dance! - Diana took great pride in her garden, her beloved farm and family. She was a great cook, an avid reader, loved a glass of wine and could spot a weed with eagle-like precision. She recycled; composted and read food labels long before they were mainstream, and her singular knowledge of all things medical earned her nickname, Dr. Block. She was also really bossy - a trait that belied her diminutive stature but revealed her warrior spirit, and it served her well. - Above all else, Diana was kind. It was her mantra. She understood that in the end, only kindness matters. We are so grateful for her unconditional love, insatiable spirit and steadfast attitude of gratitude. Diana said goodbye to many loved ones over the years including husband Henry in 2011 and infant daughter Crystal. She is survived by: Cynthia Block (Mike Bone) grandchildren Casey & Davis Bone; Corina Briant (Kevin Clarke) grandchildren Amanda & Craig Briant and their dad Dave Briant; Cherie Gogol (Lee) grandchildren Laney, Sam & Will Gogol; Curtis Block (Lisa) grandchildren Liam Finn, Jack & Ara Block - Also, sister Dona Dumont (Ted), sisters-in-law Erica Unruh, Helen Block and wonderful nieces & nephews.
