It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Armstrong announces his passing on July 10, 2026 after a courageous battle with pneumonia. Don was deeply cherished by his family and friends, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his son Douglas Armstrong (Jeannie), granddaughter Nikki Watier (Ryan); daughter Donna Hofseth (Neil), grandson Kyle Hofseth (Jessica) and great-grandchildren Liam and Wyatt; grand-daughter Candace White (Ian) and great-grandchildren Hayden, Tristen, Landon and Bailey; grandson Andy Hofseth (Jackie); grandson Evan Hofseth (Kola) and great-grandchildren River, Jaxson and Ocean; and granddaughter Jenna Vandertoorn (Rudy); nephews Mike and Pat Armstrong; niece Kelly Strang and brother-in-law Julian Shober.
Don was born and raised in Prince Albert where he met the love of his life, Stella. They danced their way through 71 years of marriage. Don enjoyed a long career with the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) and earned recognition as an outstanding Million Mile driver. In 1974, Stella and Don made the move to Saskatoon. Upon retirement, Don and Stella enjoyed travelling, spending winters in Mesa, Arizona as well as cruises. Summer vacations were spent with their children and grandchildren at Waskesiu. All who met Don knew him as a kind and gracious person, who truly cared about people. He made the world a better place. Don passed away peacefully, confident in his Bible-based hope of a future resurrection when he will be reunited with his dance partner, Stella, who passed away in 2023. The family would like to thank the staff of Trinity Manor, Parkridge Centre and St. Paul’s Hospital’s Palliative Care unit for their outstanding care of Don in his final weeks. At Don’s request, there will be a private family memorial service at a future date.
