November 30th, 1937- February 2nd, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that I announce the passing of Donald Murray Martynuk. Don passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2nd, 2015 at 10:20 p.m., at age 77 years, Rozalia was beside Don when he passed away, he held her hand. Don was born Tuesday, November 30th, 1937 in Brandon, MB. Don spent his childhood in Brandon, went to school there and graduated from Grade 12. Don came to Saskatoon on May 7th, 1960 and he liked Saskatoon and lived here ever since. Don was working for the Coca-Cola company for a while and after was working for Jubilee Ford as a sales representative for 25 years. Don moved to Forget Towers on May 31st, 2004 and lived there for 10 years. Don liked living there and was calling bingo on Thursday nights and enjoyed it. Don enjoyed talking with Leonard Willick whenever he was outside and he enjoyed his company very much. Also, Don enjoyed talking with Vivian Pushie. Every Easter weekend, Don and I, we always went to the Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show. Every August we went and enjoyed Cruise weekend in downtown Saskatoon. Don and I drove to the Calgary Stampede and enjoyed trips to Brandon, MB. Don and I went to the Forestry Farm a lot and we enjoyed watching the monkeys eat bananas. Don and I always enjoyed feeding the ducks at the pond on Ave C North. We had lots of fun and lots of laughing together. Don is survived by his loving companion Rozalia; his brother Bill and Joan Martinook, Melville, SK; nephews and nieces he never met except for Ken Martinook, Bill's son from Saskatoon, who he met at Rozalia's place in 2006. Today people are always busy and doing things and never have the time to meet relatives, it is so sad. Don is not suffering anymore, he is at peace. A very special thank you to Saskatoon Health Region, Judy Der, and all others involved for helping Rozalia with Don's care, you know who you are. Rozalia would like to say a very special thank you to the Licensed Practical Nurses: Shannon, Trudy and Kathryn at Oliver Lodge and thank you to the nurses aides for their kind and compassionate care during the last month's of Don's life and those who took such good care of Don. A special thank you to Dr. B. L. Larson at McEown Ave for his extra special care of Don. Don was predeceased by his mother Mary Martynuk. I'm glad to have had the chance to tell Don that he truly made a difference in my life. Those were the best years of my life with Don, stand by your man. I thank God for all the years we shared and had together. A Private Graveside Service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Kerry Beamish, Melvin Sawitsky, Maria Aceto, Joyce Olszewski, Bernie and Ernie Sawitsky.
