Dorothy Mae Hood

Dorothy grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. She attended high school in Saskatoon at Walter Murry after moving from Regina. Dorothy was a dedicated bookkeeper for many years and well-liked by all.

Dorothy had Alaskan malamute dogs and showed these dogs at the various events across Canada and into the United States. Dorothy spent many hours grooming the dogs for these shows, then would travel for many more hours. Dorothy also spent time helping other people with their dogs, showing them how to groom and show the dog in the ring. Dorothy was very involved in the Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada and was President of the club to mention only one.

When I meet Dorothy in 1986, I knew that I had found my soul mate. Dorothy took me out to meet her dogs a few months later and both I and the dogs hit it off. On the way back into Saskatoon Dorothy confessed to me that if the dogs had not accepted me, then I would have been cut loose from her pack.

Dorothy loved to garden and spent many hours in her garden which always thrived under care.

Another great passion of Dorothy’s was the Toronto Blue Jays. Dorothy never missed a game, and she had a wealth knowledge about the team and players. No matter how the Blue Jays played Dorothy was always watching and cheering the Jays on. I learned not to bother Dorothy when the Blue Jays were playing.

Dorothy is predeceased by her brothers Doug Rudolph and Jack Rudolph; sister-in-law Teri Rudolph; brothers-in-law Brain Houston and Eli Houston; and father-in-law Bill Hood.

Surviving Brother Dave Rudolph, Sisters, Ann McLennan and Jeaneen Rudolph and her husband or 36 years Cameron Hood.

Dorothy was more than my best friend and wife; she was my true-life partner and I will miss her. Dorothy will be missed by her surviving brother Dave Rudolph; sisters Ann McLennan and Jeaneen Rudolph; and all her nephews, nieces and her many friends.

May Dorothy rest in peace and the memories of all that that knew her be for ever present.

Dorothy’s last wish was to have her ashes spread on the dog graves that overlook the kennels at home.
