It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Louise Simpson on July 6, 2026, at the age of 89. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Dorothy was born on June 13, 1937, on a farm near Saltcoats, SK. Dorothy was the youngest daughter of Frederick and Alma Griswold. She spent her childhood and early adult years in Saltcoats, where she built lifelong friendships and cherished memories. After marrying Frank Simpson, they made Saskatoon their home, where they raised their four sons, Rick, Raymond, Arthur and Doug.
She was the heart of our family – a woman whose love, kindness, and quiet strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. As a devoted wife and mother, she created a home filled with warmth, and unconditional love. Whether caring for her family as a homemaker or sharing her talents working in catering, she gave her time and energy generously, always putting others before herself.
She was also a talented gardener, seamstress and spent many hours crafting and crocheting. A special source of pride and joy was her annual entry in the Festival of Trees, where she decorated a beautiful Christmas tree entirely with crocheted ornaments, she carefully crafted herself.
Dorothy was the glue that held our family together. Family suppers were more than a meal – they were a cherished tradition where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and everyone knew they belonged. No birthday was ever forgotten; no milestone went uncelebrated. She delighted in bringing everyone together, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Her greatest joy was her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them, watching them grow, and surrounding them with love. Her endless care, warm hugs, and unwavering support will remain with them always.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Alma Griswold; her brothers George, Vern (Ethel), Alvin (Anne), sister Marjorie (Les); and daughter-in-law Wendy.
She will be deeply missed , and forever loved by her husband of 67 years, Frank Simpson; her four sons Rick (Lorie), Raymond (Joyce), Arthur (Leanne), and Doug (Bonnie); her grandchildren Jennifer, Krissy (Mark), Stephanie (Ryan), Anna (Matt), Braelynn, Ian and Cole; and her great-grandchildren Fiona, Sophie and Ellis.
The interment for Dorothy will take place at 1:30pm on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at Acadia McKague's Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon).
