It is with great sadness that we announce the discovery, recovery, and passing of Dorothy. She will always be remembered as a devoted daughter; loving wife; a caring, loving, nurturing mother; a tremendous sister; excellent aunt; adorable niece; fun-loving cousin; and an incredible friend. We can all take some comfort and begin the grieving process and eventually have some closure thanks to the Saskatoon City Police. This is a great tragedy to all who knew, loved, cherished and admired Dorothy. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving mother, Muriel Carter. Dorothy will always be lovingly remembered by her very dear children; step-son Michael Nickel, daughter Katelyn and son Liam. Also left to mourn is her father, Arnold (Linda) Carter, her five brothers; Frank (Lynn) and Lawrence of Saskatoon and Allan (Karen), Murray, and David (Sam) of Lloydminster; her step-sisters Jenny (Glen) and Chrissy (Todd) of Milden, Sk.; her mother-in-law Val Woods, brothers-in-law Ken (Blanche), Jim (Kathy) all from Saskatoon, Murray (Deb) from Creston, BC; Scott (Christy) from Lethbridge; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, all of her friends, team mates, and daycare children. Dorothy was born in Saskatoon in the spring of 1966. As she grew up she attended Hugh Cairns V.C. School and Walter Murray Collegiate and later she pursued her love of art at SAIT in Calgary. Throughout her school days she made many good friends along her way. She returned from Calgary and went to work at the Army ‘n Navy department store where she had a lot of good times and made even more friends. In 1994 she was married and settled down to raise a family. Dorothy’s children were always cherished, loved, adored and usually in front of Dorothy’s camera. In 2003 her family moved from the Caswell Hill area back to where she had many, many fond memories in the Adelaide/South Nutana Park area. In 2007 Dorothy opened her own daycare, The Artsy Fartsy Daycare, and she loved being a positive influence in all of her “kids” lives. In recent years Dorothy had developed an interest and love for Roller Derby and it is here that she gained a special bond with many strong, loving, beautiful and spectacular women who would stick by Dorothy forever. Dorothy and her entire family are eternally grateful to all of her “Derby Sistas”. Throughout her life, Dorothy’s loyal and loving heart, charisma, love of life and boisterous character gained her many great friends. We would like to extend a very special thank you to everyone for their determined and dedicated help to bring Dot home and to everyone for their support, prayers and expressions of sympathy and concern over the last two months.
