It is with sadness yet gratitude for a life well-lived that the family of Doug Clark announce his passing on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Luther Special Care Home. He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Iris (Pederson) as well as their three children and spouses: Patti & Brian Martens (and their family – Dan & Cassie, Stephen, Sarah and Rebecca Martens), Donna & Johnstone Hardie (and their family – Jessica and Erica Hardie), and Will Clark & Dr. Graham Drake. He is also survived by his adopted brother, Don MacWilliam and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Forrest & Hilda Pederson, Marjorie Pederson, Carol Pederson, and Allan Pederson & MaryAnne Griffin and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Will & Jessie Clark and by 4 of his siblings and their spouses: Beverly & Lil Clark, Dorothy & Merle Darroch, Helen & Don MacMillan and Kathleen & Warren Benedict as well as Leila MacWilliam. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Levi & Willow Pederson, and brothers-in-law Owen Pederson and Ron Pederson. Doug was born in Delisle, SK, a surprise fifth child for Will and Jessie Clark. He grew up in Delisle and Saskatoon, graduating from Tech Collegiate in 1951. He began his chosen career of driving a semi, eventually establishing Clark Transport in Saskatoon. He and Iris moved to Brooks, Alberta in 1969 and then to Calgary in 1970 where he continued trucking, hauling everything from fuel to lumber to fruit. He and Iris moved again to Regina in 1987 where he concluded his career with the Saskatchewan Department of Highways. In 2002 he and Iris moved to the Sierra seniors’ condo in Saskatoon where they enjoyed many years of retirement and where Doug served as a board member for a number of years. Doug suffered a major stroke in September of 2015 and has been a resident of Luther Special Care Home since the spring of 2016. The family would like to thank the staff of Luther Special Care Home for their care of Doug over the past months. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Knox United Church (838 Spadina Cres.) in Saskatoon. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Maitland and Rev. Robin Jacobson. A Private Family Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Luther Care Foundation (1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0T9).
