Edna Tanasichuk

                      July 24th, 1948 – December 15th, 2016

Edna, aged 68, of LeRoy, died in Saskatoon after a brief struggle with cancer. Edna was born in Petaigan, SK, the daughter Anna and Gerhard Hildebrand. Edna grew up in Carrot River, SK and was the youngest of 18 children.  After attending school in Carrot River, Edna moved to Winnipeg, MB to obtain her Red Seal Journeyman status for Hairdressing. In 1968, Edna met the love of her life Tony Tanasichuk while working in Winnipeg. Six months later they decided to tie the knot and move to Edmonton, AB to start a new chapter in their lives together.  In the fall of 1969 they uprooted and moved to Saskatoon, SK where they started their family.  Edna had two children and four grandchildren, and she loved being surrounded by her family, especially the grandchildren.  Daughter Ashley Whitenect (Dave) and children, Jorden and Sarah and Son Regan (Allison Thibault) and children Natia and Kye. Edna thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially spending winters in Osoyoos, BC. Edna also enjoyed laughter in many forms.  If anyone spent any time with her they will be able to understand the side splitting, face cracking and side stich inducing laughter that she could cause.  Quite often at the end of a bout of laughter, you had no idea what was so funny to begin with but you continued to laugh anyways. Edna, thanks for all of the deep belly laughs and sore faces from laughing so much. Edna is survived by the following siblings:  Marie Boucher, Abe Hildebrand and Margaret Joinson along with several nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends. There will be a Celebration of Edna’s life on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 am Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street) Saskatoon. The service will be webcast so you may view it live or at your convenience at www.windsorchapelsaskatoon.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to a Cancer Foundation of your choice.
