The family of Elaine Marie Zerr, wife of Dennis, announces her peaceful passing on Monday, June 16, 2025, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Elaine was born the eldest of four children on April 30, 1942, to Harold and Kathleen McNulty. Her early schooling was at St. Mary’s and she was a member of the first graduating class at St. John Bosco Elementary School in 1956. Elaine attended Sion Academy from 1956 to 1960. The early formation of her Catholic education and strong family values provided Elaine with a moral compass that guided her for her entire life. After completing high school, Elaine attended Robertson Secretarial College and was employed with the College of Chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan.
Elaine married Dennis in 1967 and stayed home to raise her three sons. In 1983, Elaine re-entered the workforce at St. Thomas More College, where she remained until her retirement in 2002.
As a woman of strong faith, Elaine was very involved with her church and active in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Program, the Catholic Women’s League, and as a Lay Presider for many funerals. She will be remembered for her love of God, positive life outlook, commitment to family, and her baking, especially her peppernuts, which were a gift received and cherished by many.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Dennis; sons, Brad (Wendy), Phil (Cecilia), and Keith (Dee-Anna); brother, Jack (Valerie) McNulty; her brothers-in-law; Gary Kirton and Phillip (Marilyn) Zerr; as well as seven grandchildren; Janelle (Garret) Sander, Kaitlyn (Jeff) Morrison, Emmitt, Maria (Devyn) Hucul, Nolan, Noah, and Kaleb. Elaine was delighted with the arrival of two great-grandchildren; Ayda and Wesley. Elaine is predeceased by her parents; Harold and Kathleen (neẻ Surbey) sisters; Jeannette in 2019 and Kathy in 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Parish (1202 Avenue O South) Saskatoon on Saturday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Marvin Lishchynsky as Celebrant. Followed by reception, a private inturnment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mandi Wasylkowski with Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
The family would like to thank Dr. Leach, Dr. Stakiw, and all staff at the Canadian Cancer Clinic, Linda Fisher, Deb Bauche, Sister Carol Borenson, the Saskatoon Fire Department, Medavie Health Services, and all the wonderful staff at the St. Paul’s Hospital Emergency Room and Palliative Care Departments.
