Ellery was born on August 26, 1956, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was the third child of four born to Edwin and Jean Lindgren, who owned and operated a farm in Northern Lights, Saskatchewan, during his early years. The family relocated to Saskatoon in 1974, which Ellery would come to call home for most of his life. It was here that he built a proud and lifelong career as a skilled journeyman pipefitter. Known for his expertise and leadership, Ellery contributed to several large-scale industrial projects across Western Canada.
He had a great passion for the outdoors, spending countless summers at Emma Lake before permanently transitioning to live there full-time during his latter years. His favourite activities at the lake included fishing, boating, snowmobiling, sitting by the fire, and going for walks. He also found great joy in watching birds and wildlife from the deck, playing cards, and hosting family and friends for endless conversations and laughs over a cold beverage in the garage.
Ellery will be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to those he held close to him. His actions demonstrated the kindness and compassion in his heart, even if he voiced an occasional impatience. He invested a lifetime of effort into forging and maintaining friendships, making certain they would endure both distance and time. He applied the same loyalties to the deep neighbourly bonds he created, always willing to lend a hand and creating lifelong relationships. Above all, Ellery cherished his extended family and consistently dedicated his time to be spent with them for every holiday, milestone, and celebration. His legacy will live on through the circles of family, friends, and neighbours who were fortunate enough to share with him in his life.
Ellery is lovingly remembered and survived by his son, Jared Lindgren; his sister, Shelley Peacock; his sister Corinne Wizniak and her husband Brian Wizniak; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Lindgren (wife of Blaine Lindgren). He is also survived by a close-knit circle of nephews, nieces, and their families.
He was predeceased by his dearly loved partner, Sharon Peters; his parents, Edwin and Jean Lindgren; his brother, Blaine Lindgren; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Peacock.
A Celebration of Life in Ellery’s honour will be announced and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
