Eric was born on August 8, 1947, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to David and Eliese Quiring. He met Doris Kroeger at Rosthern Junior College, and they married on June 28, 1969, at First Mennonite Church in Saskatoon. Over the years, Eric developed many hobbies, including ham radio (VE5 HG), a love of motorcycles, and volunteering his time with many community organizations. In 2001, Eric was unable to continue fully participating in many of these activities, following the first of several strokes. Despite his physical and cognitive limitations, he remained a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Following his last stroke in 2021, he moved into Parkridge Centre, where he resided until his passing.
Eric is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Doris Quiring; his daughters Bonnie (David) Gallen and Heidi (Jason) Antoski; and his grandchildren: Henry and Eleanor Gallen, Alisha and Jayden Antoski. He is also remembered by his brother David (Suzanne) Quiring, brother- and sister- in-law Arny and Carey Kroeger; and many nieces and nephews.
Eric was predeceased by his parents David and Eliese Quiring, father- and mother-in-law Henry and Bertha Kroeger; and infant grandson Andrew Gallen.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkridge Centre for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation or Mennonite Central Committee.
A funeral will be held later this spring and details will follow closer to that time.
