

Ernst John “Ernie” Binsfeld passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 30, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 15, 1955 in Watson, SK, Ernst grew up on a farm just south of Englefeld, SK. He married Annette Berchiminsky on July 15, 1978 and then moved to Sturgis, SK where he began his career as a teacher. Before retiring after 37 years in 2011, Ernst was a well-respected educator, sharing his knowledge and wisdom with all of his students, while developing many long-lasting friendships along the way. In his spare time, Ernst spent countless hours in his yard and garden, making it one of the most beautiful yards in town year after year. Ernst was a loving father, son, brother, husband, uncle, friend, teacher and mentor. He will be remembered for his loving and caring nature, sense of humor, passion for gardening, and love of teaching. Ernst is survived by his three children Justin Binsfeld (Megan) of Calgary, AB, Tyson Binsfeld (Sarah) of Regina, SK, and Teigan Binsfeld (Brandon) of Saskatoon, SK, his father August Binsfeld of Leroy, SK, his 3 siblings Doreen (Bill) Chyz of Saskatoon, SK, Mary Louise (Glen) Molle of Watson, SK, David Binsfeld of Vancouver, BC and his many nieces and nephews. Ernst was predeceased by his mother Maria (Hacke) Binsfeld. A Vigil of Prayer will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 3, 2017 and Liturgy of the Word will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 with a viewing prior to the service. Both services will be held at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre. Arrangements in care of Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Drive Saskatoon, SK).
