On Sunday October 24th, 2021, Errin Robert Carruthers, beloved son, brother, and cherished friend passed away at the age of 51 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Errin was born on May 24th, 1970, to Bonnie Bracken (Reid). Friends of Errin that knew him when he was young, describe him as very much the same person we know today. Slightly mischievous, fearless, thoughtful, and generous beyond measure.
Errin’s career path was first as the popular DJ at many nightclub locations between Saskatoon and Kelowna, before advancing to a management role in the food, beverage, and entertainment industry. Whatever establishment you might find him at over the years, he was the ultimate host…always welcoming with a warm smile and a hug, or a firm handshake. He always knew how to make everyone feel special and he was very passionate about keeping people entertained.
Errin’s other passion - sports. He was very actively involved in the Co-Ed Slo-Pitch community, always participating or organizing tournaments. One of Errin’s other favourite pastimes was canoeing, there was nothing he looked forward to more, than his annual canoe trip in May. Even though he is gone, those canoe trips will carry on, Errin’s final wishes were that his ashes be scattered along the way.
After many years in the food and beverage business, Errin’s love of golf and a desire for change had recently taken him back to Kelowna to pursue work in the golf industry and ultimately, more time on the golf course. He was just starting to feel settled in his new job when he received his devastating cancer diagnosis in December of 2020. He quickly decided that a move back to Saskatoon was best to be close to friends and family while seeking treatment.
Errin always made the effort to stay in touch, even when life became “busy”. He was the person that would remember the smallest details about life and times spent together, always demonstrating how much he cared, and how much he paid attention. He would give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to anyone in need and he was happy to do so.
Errin is predeceased by his grandmother Marjorie, mother Bonnie, father Gerrit and sister Dena. He is survived by his cherished extended families, The Beauregards and Don & Marlene Bushell. He is also survived by innumerable friends that he always considered family.
A service in complete Errin style will tee-off at 2:00pm on Monday, November 1st at Club 19 at Greenbryre Golf & Country Club. We invite you to join us in person, or alternatively, you may view his service via the livestream at : linkhttps://www.faithproductions.ca/november2021
