Everard was born in Rosehall, British Guiana, to Frances and Edward Austin. He grew up alongside his siblings, Violet, Tom, Rohetta and Jean, beginning a life that would take him across continents and leave a lasting impression on countless people.
In the late 1950s, Everard earned his certification as an Electrician in British Guiana. It was also during this time, he met the love of his life, Myrtle Babb. Together they embarked on a new chapter, moving to London, England in 1960, where Everard continued working as an Electrician. The couple married in 1964, beginning a beautiful life together.
In 1966, Everard and Myrtle made Saskatoon, Saskatchewan their home. They welcomed their son, Jacques, in 1967, followed by their daughter Mishel in 1971.
Everard went on to dedicate more than 30 years of his life to teaching, sharing his knowledge, patience and wisdom with generations of students. His teaching career concluded with his retirement from W.W. Brown High School in Langham, Saskatchewan, in 1994. However, retirement never meant slowing down for Everard. His passion for his trade and his willingness to lend a helping hand continued well into his later years, as he remained active in electrical work until the remarkable age of 85.
Everard was also a dedicated member of the Saskatoon Knights of Columbus Council 1517, where his commitment to service and community reflected the values he carried throughout his life.
Those fortunate to know Everard will remember a man whose laughter was truly unforgettable. When he laughed, his entire body laughed along with him, bringing joy to everyone around him. He was a natural storyteller, with an extraordinary memory and an endless collection of stories from a life so richly lived. Whether recalling moments from decades past, or sharing memories with family and friends, Everard had the remarkable ability to make each story feel as though it happened yesterday.
Above all else, Everard was a devoted family man. His unwavering love, generosity and willingness to help others were defining qualities of his character. If someone needed a hand, Everard was there, never hesitating to offer his time, knowledge or support. His kindness and dedication touched the lives of so many.
Everard is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Rohetta and Jean; his children Jacques Austin and Mishel (Todd)Hodge; his cherished grandchildren Dylan, Desserae (Elijah), and Devin (Jessica); great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Nylah, Elliana and Easton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Myrtle, parents Frances and Edward Austin, sister Violet Campbell and brother Thomas Austin.
Everard leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of meaningful friendships, dedicated teaching, unwavering devotion to family and a life truly well-lived.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing that his stories will continue to be told, his laughter will never be forgotten and the love he gave so freely will live on through the generations that follow.
