We are sad to announce the passing of FLOYD ALFRED FAULK on January 20, 2025 at the age of 86. After struggling with kidney disease for several years and then a brief battle with cancer, he is no longer suffering and at peace.
Floyd will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 60 years Dorinda, his daughter Laurie (Les) Pratt of Regina, Sk and son Steven (Stacy) Faulk of Saskatoon, Sk. Also his sisters Elinor Trombley, Ruth Johnson, Betty Leidahl, sister-in-law Cindy Faulk and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his daughter Marnie Faulk, parents Elfie and Paul Faulk, brothers Alvin and Edwin, sister Annette Kilback, brothers-in-law Wilf Kilback, Archie Johnson, Edgar Leidahl, sister-in-law Gladys Faulk and step-father John Carlson.
Floyd was born and raised in Ceylon, Sk. After working for the railroad and at potash and nickel mines, he met the love of his life Dorinda. They were married in 1964 and settled in Regina where Laurie was born. While there, an opportunity came to start in construction sales which began a lifetime career that Floyd excelled at and loved. His job later moved the family to Saskatoon, where Steve was born and then to Edmonton where Marnie was born. Over the years, he won many top sales awards while at Unicon Concrete Specialties, which he was very proud of. He could readily point out buildings and tell you what products he sold for them during construction. Floyd and Dorinda later moved to Kelowna, Bc in 2005 and he retired shortly after that. While there, he particularly enjoyed the fine Okanagan weather and fresh fruit.
Floyd was a very good-natured and caring person. He always put others first; if he could help someone in need, he did. He was a good neighbour and volunteered for many years on the Strata Council for the condo in Kelowna. Floyd enjoyed taking pride in his home and yard, making sure everything looked good. He loved country music and learned to play the guitar. He was a life-long fan of Ford cars and curling. Family came first and Floyd always made time for what was important to his kids. The family enjoyed many vacations camping, fishing and traveling together. Through Steve’s involvement in hockey, Floyd made many long-term friendships that endure to this day.
The family would like to acknowledge all those involved in his care at the St Paul’s Hospital Kidney Clinic and Palliative Care Unit. A special thank you to Dr. Chance Dumaine, for his ongoing care of Floyd’s kidney disease. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Paul’s Hospital Kidney Clinic or Palliative Care.
No memorial service will be held at this time. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Saskatoon at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Ryan Lensen
