Born on May 27th, 1940 in Hanley, SK she was the daughter of the late George and Vivian Wintringham. Georgia had a love of sports at an early age that resulted in a broken leg and a lasting nickname of Hoppy that she took to her last days.
She was a dedicated nurse in her early career and then spent the ensuing years keeping the household running with good food, chocolate cakes and cinnamon buns until all the kids were done school before returning to work in retail for a few years.
Known for her love of arts and crafts like quilting and liquid embroidery (Artex) and literature in the form of harlequin romance novels, when she wasn't busy with her family she could be found visiting local garage sales and flea markets looking for treasures.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred Erwin Penno and her brothers Steve and Fred Wintringham. She leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by her four children: Jeff (Janice), Deborah (Geoff), Jeana, and Rusty (Anna); her grandchildren, Deidra, Braden (Zamantha), Darby (Jeff), Jordan and Jaxson; great grandchildren Sadie, Melia and Dahlia, siblings Carol, Alan (Connie), Nora (Adolf), Les (Linda), and all her nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Stensrud Lodge for the care that was given to mom while she was there, where many of the pages of her artwork still adorn the walls.
Georgia's wishes were to not have a funeral or service. There will be a private family interment at a later date.
