July 23, 1941 - August 30, 2018
At sunrise Thursday morning mom peacefully passed. She took her last blessed breath in the arms of her beloved husband Hugo and daughter's Jackie, Wendy, and Michelle. We are completely bereaved at the loss. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Paul's Hospital for their exemplary care. Their compassion and expertise over the past weeks has given us much comfort and eased mom's last days. Her struggle with progressive supra nuclear palsy was long and debilitating. Throughout she endured with an indomitable will to live. As the 6:00 a.m. sunrise emerged ablaze through the clouds on the morning of August 30th her spirit took flight, her wings strengthened for the journey. She will forever dance amongst the stars and in our hearts. Good-bye mom. Gloria Tenezaca was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Marie Link, former husband Terry Jenson, and infant son Timmy. She is survived by her loving husband Hugo Tenezaca, daughters Jackie (Patrick) Jenson of Saskatoon, Wendy (Kai) Siltamaki of Thunder Bay, Michelle (Ralph) Bird of Saskatoon, two step-children Raquel and Paul Tenezaca of Regina, grandchildren Evelyn, Sonja, Tatyana, Kirsten, Kai Jr., Dylan, Samantha, Jacob, Natalia, Sienna, 8 great-grandchildren, and siblings Carole Hurlburt, Pearlee (Joe) Hofstede, Leslie (Lynn) Link and Gary (Jo) Link. Gloria was born in Eatonia, SK, the third child of Jacob and Marie Link. She grew up on the wide open prairie where figure skating played a large part in her life. She both performed and taught throughout her youth. Gloria married her high school sweetheart Terry Jenson and they eventually landed in Saskatoon, created a family and started a family business, Crown Tire. Mom worked there doing the advertising layouts and later did similar work at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. Gloria took pride in the history degree she attained at the U of S and later also practiced real estate for a time. After the tragic loss of her husband in 1975 she arose from the ashes and moved to Toronto with her two younger daughters who had been accepted into the school at the National Ballet of Canada. Gloria's love of dance extended to her daughters and they were encouraged to broaden their life experience and excel. In 1986 after moving back to Saskatoon, Gloria married Hugo Tenezaca. Thus began a wonderful life of adventure and travel! Hugo's citizenship in Ecuador allowed them to build a second home in Quito where Hugo's family lived. Annual trips with winters spent there for 13 glorious years created many fond memories. Gloria enjoyed learning and speaking Spanish and especially sharing Canadian cuisine and learning Ecuadorian culture and cooking. She always created an overabundance of amazing dishes for their gatherings. Mom's radiant smile and sincere hospitality with friends and family will be greatly missed by many. The family will be celebrating Gloria's life with a private memorial in Saskatoon. “Gloria, te amare siempre y para siempre.” - Hugo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Luther Care Communities, 1212 Osler St. Saskatoon, SK S7N 0T9. Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
