Born in Goodsoil, Saskatchewan on January 8, 1962, to Howard and Betty Mercer, Ian was one of eight siblings raised in many towns through the years, predominantly in Yorkton and North Battleford before moving to Saskatoon in his early twenties. There, Ian spent many years as a proud small business owner working in people's homes and building many rewarding relationships through business, church, and volunteerism. His infectious personality often lent itself to many visitors and friends, whether on the deck at the lake, at a live music venue, or at home. Ian loved the family cabin and took great pride in the stewardship of Howie's Hilton. Other than time spent at the lake, Ian had passions for curling with his longtime buddies, his membership with the Knights of Columbus, spending time with family, and finding any general reason to celebrate with others.
A beloved Father, husband, brother, grandpa, uncle, and friend. Survived by his wife Nelda Mercer; daughter Lindsay Dempsey (Marc); grandson Dieken Mercer- Roy; sons Christopher Mercer (Meaghan & Ellie) and Sean Mercer.
