October 26, 1936 – April 21, 2017
Irene passed away peacefully at Saskatoon City Hospital at the age of 80. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Darrell (Yvonne); daughter, Gwen Rusnak (Irv); grandchildren, Ashley Nogue (Gary), Alyson Meyers (Rob), Chelsea Wong (Joshua), and Jason Rusnak; great-granddaughters, Grace and Avery Nogue; brothers, Lambert Wourms (Lillian) and Herb Wourms (Vera); sister Ellen Volk (Pete); sisters-in-law, Alma Wourms and Edna Wourms; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Emile Gobeille, and her brothers, Paul Wourms and Edwin Wourms.
Irene was creative, artistic, and resourceful in every area of her life. She had a special touch and imagination with her gardening and loved to make handmade cards with her own pressed flowers and designs. She was known for her green thumb and was always humble and modest when she received compliments for her impressive garden which never ceased to put a smile on someone’s face. She loved sewing, painting, and learning about her family’s history. Through that journey, she met and connected with so many relatives and loved communicating with them all. Irene’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was so very proud of them and proud to be their Nana. She had the most generous, selfless heart and always had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Her door was always open and the coffee on. She had an incredible sense of humour and was known to have family, friends, and strangers laughing within minutes. We will miss the smiles, the hugs, and smart cracks, but take great comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Philip Neri Parish.
