Janet Dell Parsons

1937 to 2025

Janet was born September 20, 1937. She was the oldest of four children. Born in Barking, England, she soon moved to Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, where she attended primary and secondary school. There she met the love of her life, Brian. They married in 1958. They had 3 adopted children, Tim and Chris in England, and Natasha in Canada, where they moved in 1967.

Janet was a gifted teacher. She loved teaching, all forms of dance, and the theatre. Janet started ballet at three years old and took her last class when she was 80.

Janet and Brian travelled all over England, Europe, Canada, and the USA. They were happy together and very much in love their whole lives.

Janet had many friends and will be much missed. She requested a small funeral with only the immediate family, so apologies to her many friends who will not have the opportunity to say goodbye.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers at Sherbrooke, who were always unfailingly kind and helpful.

Finally, Janet loved the following and sends it to you all with love:

“When I must leave you for a little while,

Please do not grieve and shed wild tears,

And hug you sorrow to you thru the years.

But start out bravely with a gallant smile,

And for my sake, and in my name,

Live on and do all things the same.

Feed not your loneliness on empty days,

But fill each waking hour in useful ways.

Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer,

And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near.

And never, never be afraid to die,

For I am waiting for you in the sky!”
