Jerry was born to Alex and Frances Byers in Saskatoon. He grew up in Star City, SK, where he was actively involved in ball and hockey and completed his schooling. After high school, Jerry moved to Saskatoon and started his career with Sasktel.
On July 8th, 1967, Jerry married Bev Shields in Star City.
Jerry's career with Sasktel took the family to Spiritwood, Uranium City, and Melfort where he later retired after 32 years. Jerry loved the outdoors, so after retiring, Jerry and Bev moved to East Trout Lake where they made their home until 2024. Jerry and Bev then moved to Melfort.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents, his brother and sister in-law and his father and mother in-law.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving Wife, Bev, of 59 years.
His daughter, Tanya and her husband Peter McAvoy, and their children, Colten (Josie), Ethan (Haidyn), and Jordan. His son, Ryan and his wife Tanya, and their children Damon and Ashley.
His sister in-laws and their husbands, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
