With great sadness, we announce the passing of our daughter, Jillian. Jilly, age 28 passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital on April 5, 2012. Born January 17, 1984, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Deborah and Howard Murdoch, Jill spent the majority of her life in Saskatoon and surrounding area.
Jill has gone to join her grandfather, Wayne Saunders (2007); her grandmother, Shirley Murdoch (2005); her grandfather, Allan Murdoch (2004) and her dog, Moppy (2008).
Jillian started her life in Regina and for the first three years lived in Birsay, Saskatchewan where her parents farmed. At the age of 3, she moved to Saskatoon to attended John Dolan School where she remained until she graduated. After graduation, Jillian moved to Osler.
Jill’s early years were spent at the farm and holidaying at the lake. One of Jill’s greatest joys was being outside in the sun and fresh air. Jill loved music, particularly her father’s play list which consisted mainly of classic rock.
Jill made many new friends when she moved to her new home in Osler. She was given the opportunity to swim and to ride horses. She attended concerts, sporting events, The Exhibition and many shopping trips. Her evenings were filled with singing, music and visiting. There was always something going on at her home. Thank you to the Sunshine Housing board for providing such a great environment in which to live.
Jillian had the privilege to know many wonderful people. She was surrounded by very caring people all of her life. Her parents would like to thank the Home Care ladies – Ruth, Joanne, Lisa and Elva. They were with her for most of her school years. They were entrusted with getting Jilly off to school and to be there when she came home. Also thank you to Dianne from Sunshine Housing. Under her guidance, Corrie, Lorraine, Crystal, Velda and Kathy saw that Jillian’s quality of life remained constant and full .
Jillian had a special bond with her sister Mandy and her grandmother, Elvira Saunders. Mandy was always Jillian’s fierce protector. Her grandmother attended all of her events and spent many hours sitting by her bedside in the hospital. She was always up for meeting Jillian at the mall to do a little shopping or to go for walks.
Special thanks to Aunt Cal for all the support during her early years; Vicki for summer care; Trish and Rick for the trip to the lake and camping; Katie for the singing and staying overnight with Jillian in the hospital; Eunice for always being there and for hanging with Jillian when mom was away with Mandy; to Lorraine, Brittany and Jon for providing the evenings of musical entertainment; to all of the Sunshine staff for insuring Jill had fun.
Thank you to the caring nurses, doctors, special aides and respiratory therapists in the ICU at St. Paul’s Hospital. Through it all, you showed us the way. Thanks for the guidance, patience and gentle care of Jillian.
Jillian is forever in the hearts of her parents, Howard and Deborah Murdoch, Saskatoon; her sister, Mandy Murdoch (Andreas & Peter Boersch), Regina; her grandmother, Elvira Saunders, Saskatoon; her uncles and aunts, Raymond and Cheryl Saunders(Saskatoon), Kathy Saunders (Regina), Deanna and Delaney Boon (Lucky Lake), Shelley Saunders (Calgary), Murray and Glenda Murdoch (Birsay), Dave and Bev MacElwain (Cadillac) and many cousins.
