John grew up on a farm in the Great Deer area and farmed there until 1983 when he began trucking for Siemens Transport as a leased operator. John left the farm in 1984, moved to Saskatoon, and married Diann in 1985. John could do anything; he had many jobs over the years, working as a trucker, dispatcher, heavy duty mechanic and heavy equipment operator.
John is survived by his wife Diann, his children Becky (Andrew), Clinton (Dawn), Chris (Jackie), Mike (Heidi), Travis (Scott) and Amber (Tyler). His grandchildren Travis Mark, A.J., Awnya, C.J., and Graesyn and his great-grandchildren Marcus and Amelia. His siblings Irene, Rosalie (Ed) James (Sharon), Karen as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents and his sister Violet.
