August 25, 1929 - September 30, 2015
On September 30th, John passed away peacefully, with his family by his side. John is lovingly remember by his wife of 54 years, Barb; daughters Brenda (Garth) Reid, Michele (Jim) Smith; and 3 grandchildren: Michael and Jamie Smith and Samantha Reid; siblings: Denise Cain, Alex (Lillian) Blondeau, Henri (Jeannine) Blondeau, Jeanne Comeau, Solange (Don) Crawford, Beatrice (Brian) Waldner, Lorraine Blondeau; sister-in-law Terry Blondeau (Harold Christensen); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Joseph Blondeau; mother Bernadette Blondeau Dinelle; sister Therese St. Arnaud; brother Michel Blondeau; mother-in-law Myrtle Colwell; father-in-law John Graziano; brothers-in-law Paul Marcoux, Bernie Cain, Roland St. Arnaud, Harry Comeau and Royden Graziano. John was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan and grew up in Domremy, Saskatchewan. He moved to Ottawa to attend university and earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree. He then went on to work for the Department of Transport where he met his future life partner, Barb. They later moved to Swift Current to start his career with Sask Revenue. During their stay in Swift Current, they were blessed with 2 daughters. Shortly thereafter John was transferred to Saskatoon where he retired after 30 years. During retirement, John was actively involved with the Lions Club, dedicating many hours of volunteer service. John's greatest joy was when his 3 grandchildren were born. He will be missed for his sense of humour and playful antics, which of course kept all three grandchildren entertained. He loved to make wine, playing pool and of course working on his computer. John was always the "go to" person whenever anyone needed tech support. In 2012, John was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout his treatments John maintained his sense of humour and positive attitude. His courage, attitude and determination were a true inspiration to all that knew him. John will be greatly missed and his memory will be forever cherished. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road) on Monday, October 5th at 10:30 AM. The Rite of Committal will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre as well as the staff at RUH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements in care of David Polzen - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306) 978-5200
