It is with the deepest sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jordan Christopher Stevenson on Feb 28, 2025. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. Jordan was a loving brother, son, family member, friend, co-worker, and teammate. He was an amazing athlete and human being who was truly an Angel before he even became one. From a young age he loved life to its fullest with an amazing sense of self confidence, and the most amazing laugh you’ll ever hear. While the world may have labeled him as intellectually challenged and mentally disabled with ASD, he had the ability to show empathy that made people feel amazing and inspired when they were around him. For those who knew Jordan, he was a kind soul who gave everything he had to others: coaching, talking, listening, joking, and pun battles.
Jordan’s reach in Saskatchewan sports was enormous given his young age. In speed skating and cycling, he was an inspiration and tough opponent who would battle to the end. He participated in amazing experiences like the Special Olympics Speed skating championships making provincial and national teams twice. He attended Summer and Winter Jeux Canada Games in speed skating and mountain biking and attended several western and national speed skating championships. He was involved in triathlon for Saskatchewan Summer Games and speed skating for Saskatchewan Winter Games. He also attended Provincial, Western and Canadian Cyclocross Championships and several school and special Olympic activities over the years. He always tried to be a leader and ambassador for all his teams - especially with Special O. In addition to participating as an athlete, he spent countless hours coaching in both speedskating and cycling and in the process, Jordan made so many friends as he grew into the amazing man he became.
He had his second family at his place of work, the Boomtown Café, at the Western Development Museum. He loved to pester and laugh with his coworkers while making the best omelets ever. He will be dearly missed by his work family. His loves were his family and friends, cycling and speed skating, board games and Pokémon, reading and going to the symphony, and living life to its absolute fullest.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 13 from 1pm-4pm at the Western Development Museum and all are welcome. If you would like to bring a memory in picture or written form, feel free to leave one at the service for the family to share in your memory of this extraordinary human being. In lieu of flowers, we encourage people to give a donation to the Special Olympics Saskatchewan which was near and dear to Jordan’s heart.
