Josephine passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 93 years of age. She was loved not only by her family and extended family but also, and especially so by those who cared for her at St. Ann’s Senior Citizen Village. What a blessing to use the words ‘love’ and ‘being cared for’ in the same sentence when it comes to the extraordinary teams of caregivers!
Josephine was born on August 26, 1929. She was the third eldest of thirteen children. She attended grade school before becoming a caregiver herself, at a young age, for children and their families in the Primate and Macklin area. Josephine trained as a nursing assistant and loved being able to care for babies in the nursery. She always loved the babies the most.
Josephine married Sylvester Berscheid on July 23, 1960. Together they farmed in Lake Lenore and then expanded their farming when they moved to Tisdale where they raised pigs, grew many crops and raised five children. She took great pride in her gardening and was an amazing lady of the prairie in the kitchen!
Josephine is lovingly survived by Merv and (Ellen), Chad; Gerri and (Jaime), Rob and Stacey, Laurie and Chazz; Sandy and (Bernard), Alexis and Andrew, Elise and Sol, Melissa and Craig, Masson & Carly Rae; Michele and (Bill), Camille and Jeff, Brayden, Tasia; Michael and (Angela), Andrew, Charlie; eleven great grandchildren; Frank Flahr; Catherine Bichel; Mary Stang; Betty Stang; Lucy Wood; Anne Stang; Alex and Estelle Stang; Margaret and Tom Cook.
