Josephine Florence Halvorson

We sadly announce the passing of our mother Florence Halvorson on August 11, 2025. Mom was born in Kandahar, SK, on October 6, 1934, and grew up in Leacross, SK. She married our Dad, Gilbert “Gib” Halvorson, the love of her life, on January 14, 1959. They moved to Colonsay, SK in 1969, where they worked and raised us, her sons Doug and Dwaine. Mom worked at the Colonsay Co-op and the TD Bank. She was very active in the community of Colonsay, serving on numerous boards and committees over the years. She loved to curl and play cards. Mom had a huge garden and was a fantastic cook. We were lucky to grow up on her garden produce and homemade bread, bun and cookies. When her grandsons Colton and Taylor were born, Mom was overjoyed. They continued to bring mom great happiness all her life. Mom was predeceased by her husband Gib; father Jake; mother Violet; sister Beatrice; sisters-in-law Phyllis and Doreen; brothers George, Milton, and Stan; and brothers-in-law Mike Bergstrom, Bill Wells, and Dave Walker. She is survived by her sons Doug and Dwaine; grandsons Taylor (Hailey) and Colton (Taya); sisters Marj and Evelyn; sisters-in-law Diane and Jeanne; and brother Ross; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
