She was my beloved mom and one of my best friends.  We travelled together, enjoyed concerts and art galleries, talked (boy, did we talk) and walked, prepared meals and broke bread together.  Such a profound loss.

To All the Mitchell Family,
It is with many happy memories of your mother and our many family functions in the past. I send you all, my deepest sympathy and may you cherish all the happy memories.

Paddy and family i am sorry for your loss. I know it is not easy but she is in a better place. I didn't know your mom but I wanted you to know I am thinking of you. Your memories of her will bring such joy and to know she is no longer suffer should bring you peace.

Dear Shirley...You were the best mother-in-law a woman could have ever hoped for.  Doug and I have fond memories of our trips and times together.  Your legacy lives on in your precious children and theirs. We will always love you and wish you peace.  Rae

Shirley was a classy lady who never seemed to get ruffled, no matter how many Mitchell and Cumming children were running rampant through her house. She impressed me with her intellect; she was always interested in current events and ready to talk seriously about politics, literature, or relationships with an expatriate visiting from the US. A very fond memory I have of Shirley is when she would line up the girls and braid their hair before sending the troops off to Buena Vista. She lived a life of service to others and balanced it so well with her good humor and efficiency. Shirley was a beautiful woman in every way; she left her kind mark on many, many people. Her children give evidence of what an extraordinary woman Shirley was.

She was a lovely lady whom I had the pleasure to meet only once. She appeared very happy to be surrounded by those who loved her dearly.

Mom, you were an amazing woman, adventurous, intelligent and loving. Without you I would not be the woman I am today. Thank you for your love and support.
