In March of 1929, Fred moved his family from Norway to Strongfield, SK, Canada. Kirsten started school in a one room school without being able to speak a word of English! When she was 9 years old, her mother, Anna died giving birth to a baby boy who also died. In the years to follow, she learned to play the piano and violin and was a member of a string ensemble. She moved to Saskatoon in the 1940's, went to Business a College and met Leonard Alm, whom she married in 1949. She leaves to mourn her 4 children: Carolyn (Berk) of Prince Albert; Rod (Kathy) of Saskatoon; Les (Linda) of Allan and Linda (Ted) of Regina as well as 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Alm, her brother and only sibling, Audfinn as well as cousins in Canada and Norway. Her life as a wife and mother took her from Saskatoon to Outlook, back to Saskatoon, Birch Hills, and finally back to Saskatoon. After raising her 4 children she went back to work at the age of 50, with Revenue Canada, and retired at age 64. She and her husband were involved at Zion Lutheran Church. Kirsten loved the fellowship and was also involved with the Lutheran Church Women's Organization. She and Len spent every summer at their cottage at Christopher Lake and were involved with the Kinasao Bible Camp. They enjoyed winters in Arizona and California. She spent many years living at Luther Tower and finally at the Luther Special Care Home. Our thanks go out to the wonderful staff at the Luther Special Care Home whose love and compassionate care for our mother was so appreciated!
