It is with deep sadness that the Schneider family announces the passing of Lambert. After a courageous battle with cancer, Lambert passed away at Sherbrooke Community Centre at the age of 89 years. He is dearly loved and remembered by his wife Matilda (Tillie Fischer) of nearly 63 years; his children Murray - Arthur, Jeana (Jason), Gordon, Laura (Wally); Allan (Kathy) - Brian (Joleen) and Andrea (Shane) Elian; Harvey - Christina and Thomas; Janet (Dan) Jean - Brandon, Joshua, Erin and Jeremy; Denice Monteil (Zoran); and Kelly (Shirley); his great-grandchildren Sarah, Luca, Taylor and Jordan; his siblings Bill (Collette) Schneider, Bob (Eileen) Schneider, Marty (Clare) Schneider, Ed (Lynda) Schneider, Bert (Marie) Schneider, Mervin Schneider, Irene (Mike) MacDonald and Al (Lori) Schneider; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Mary (nee Halter) Schneider; and his sisters Barbara (Louis) Elder and Sr. Anne Schneider, SMS. Lambert was born in Scott, SK. He was raised on a farm near Revenue, SK and went to elementary school and high school in Revenue. He graduated from the U of S with a B.A., B. Ed. and Diploma in Administration. He spent a life of teaching starting in rural Saskatchewan becoming Principal in the Saskatoon Catholic System in 1963. Lambert was a devoted family man who always assisted his children, siblings, neighbours and friends with many of their construction and renovation projects. The family home was a place where many visitors were welcomed. Lambert was an active member of the Holy Family Parish and Cathedral since 1963, taking part with many parish functions as well as completing numerous construction projects. Some of his woodwork is found in the church. He was an active member with the Knights of Columbus, 3rd & 4th degrees. After a long teaching career, Lambert focused more on wood working projects, stained glass work and devoting his time to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to all the care givers at Sherbrooke Nursing Home, especially May, Norman and Denise for their kindness. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Rd, Saskatoon, SK S7S 1H1) or to the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation (214 Ave. M South, Saskatoon, SK S7M 2K4). The Vigil for Lambert will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5th. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6th. Both services will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Rd.) in Saskatoon, SK. The Rite of Committal will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
