Also left to mourn are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Linda was born on February 15, 1956 in Davidson, Saskatchewan. There was so much snow that year that her father had to enlist a friend to come to the hospital with a team of horses and pull the car home through all the snow. She grew up a rough and tumble tomboy with two older brothers. They, along with their cousins, had many fun times and adventures. In 1970, the family left Davidson and moved to Churchbridge and then on to a farm in Swanson. As much as she loved the farm life, it was time for her to branch out on her own and she moved to Kindersley. It was in Kindersley where she met her future husband. They were married in 1974 in Outlook, Saskatchewan.
Their family started to grow soon after with the birth of their first child, a daughter, in 1975 and a son in 1977. They were later divorced and she continued to raise her two children as a hard working and devoted single mother.
Linda moved several times in her life including Davidson, Kindersley, Outlook, Perdue, and finally Saskatoon. She worked in retail for most of her adult life, always working her way up from a teller to a manager.
Linda’s passion was always her family. She worked hard to provide for her children, often going without things for herself. She also went back to school to get her GED and also took a secretary course through Kelsey Campus in Saskatoon. Later in life she lived with her parents to help care for them. She loved to read and loved listening to country music. She was always a huge fan of Elvis and one of her dreams was always being able to visit Graceland. In 2024, she was able to fulfill that dream with a trip to Memphis.
Linda was predeceased by her parents John and Jean Chester, her son Shane, and her brother Rick.
To honor Linda’s wishes, she was cremated, and a graveside service for family will be held at St. Ambrose Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Royal University Hospital for the exceptional care given in Linda’s final days and to Mourning Glory Funeral Services for their kindness and compassion.
Arrangements are entrusted to Derryl Hildebrandt.
